Notes From the Edge

Image
I've just spent an hour sorting through notebooks to decide what I'm going to be writing next and how I'm going to approach it. I think I've decided. It will take me a while, so let's see. This stack of notebooks contains notes that will form the backbone of it…  Also pictured: recently completed reading Politics on the Edge by Rory Stewart. I’m not a Tory, so I didn’t expect to agree with him on anything, but it’s a brilliantly written, self-effacing account of the hypocrisy, lies and incompetence at the heart of everyday life as a Cabinet Minister.  Underneath that is my current read, by Richard Powers. I don’t get through books quickly. In January, I’ve only read Al Pacino’s autobiography (very good), these two, and, randomly, HG Wells’ The Invisible Man. What I’m about to write has taken some inspiration from recent reads!
